What You’ll Do
Hansen Talent Group is hiring a COBOL Developer to support a mainframe-based enterprise environment.
This role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting complex applications within a healthcare claims processing environment. You’ll work on EDI transactions, collaborate with business and technical teams, and ensure reliable data processing across critical systems.
What You’ll Do
- Analyze, design, develop, and implement complex COBOL-based applications
- Support healthcare EDI processing, including claims and eligibility transactions
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Design, code, test, and debug programs in a mainframe environment
- Perform system enhancements, conversions, and post-implementation support
- Create and execute test plans, validate results, and maintain documentation
- Evaluate system impacts and dependencies across applications
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior developers
- Support production systems, including troubleshooting and on-call responsibilities
- Strong COBOL development experience (mainframe environment)
- Experience with healthcare claims and EDI processing (X12 transactions)
- 6 years of application development, systems testing, or related experience
- Experience with CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, and JCL
- Strong understanding of SDLC, system design, and integration methodologies
- Ability to analyze complex systems and troubleshoot issues effectively
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
