We are seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer for a remote role. The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and securing cloud-based infrastructure and services in compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Defense Industrial Base (DIB) cybersecurity requirements. This role focuses on Microsoft 365 GCC-High, Azure Government, and other approved cloud platforms to ensure the protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). The engineer will support secure migration strategies, automate cloud deployments, and maintain compliance with CMMC Level 2 and NIST 800-171 standards.
The hourly rate for this role is $55-$62. The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Responsibilities include:
Design and deploy scalable, secure, and compliant cloud environments.
Implement hybrid connectivity solutions (ExpressRoute, VPNs, Azure Virtual WAN).
Build cloud infrastructure following Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
Apply Zero Trust principles across Microsoft 365 GCC-High and Azure Government.
Implement security controls to meet DFARS , NIST 800-171, and CMMC Level 2 requirements.
Configure identity and access management (IAM), conditional access policies, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Monitor performance, cost, and security through native cloud tools and third-party platforms.
Troubleshoot and optimize workloads for efficiency and resilience.
Partner with the Network Engineer to align hybrid infrastructure designs.
Maintain cloud security and compliance documentation for audits.
Provide technical guidance to IT staff and support teams on cloud best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience.
3-5 years of experience in cloud engineering, systems administration, or DevOps.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 GCC-High and/or Azure Government.
Strong understanding of cloud networking, storage, and security configurations.
Knowledge of compliance frameworks: NIST 800-171, DFARS 7012, CMMC Level 2.
Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation.
Preferred Qualifications
Active DoD security clearance (Secret or higher).
Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Security Engineer, or equivalent.
Experience With AWS GovCloud Or Other FedRAMP-authorized Cloud Environments.
Background in supporting ITAR, CUI, and other defense-related compliance requirements.
Potential conversion at a salary range of $120K to $125K
Need to be and be able to get a secret clearance.
