Overview:
We are seeking a Cloud Database Engineer with deep expertise in YugabyteDB and/or PostgreSQL to join a high-impact Database Engineering team. This team is responsible for selecting and operationalizing database technologies across the enterprise, both on-prem and in public cloud environments. You will define, design, implement, test, and communicate architectures, configurations, and best practices for scalable, secure, and highly available database deployments.
You will evaluate new versions, features, and extensions of YugabyteDB and PostgreSQL for performance, scalability, availability, monitoring, and security. You will also collaborate with hosting, DBA, and operations teams to harden these technologies for mission-critical applications.

You will evaluate new versions, features, and extensions of YugabyteDB and PostgreSQL for performance, scalability, availability, monitoring, and security. You will also collaborate with hosting, DBA, and operations teams to harden these technologies for mission-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate, deploy, and manage YugabyteDB and PostgreSQL in Google Cloud Platform and/or AWS
- Evaluate and prepare cloud-native database offerings for enterprise use
- Document and present best practices to development, DBA, and support teams
- Design and implement HA, replication, backup/restore, and monitoring strategies
- Ensure security, fault tolerance, and performance optimization
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Strong understanding of ACID, CAP, and consistency models
- Experience with YugabyteDB, PostgreSQL, or similar distributed SQL databases
- Hands-on experience with Patroni, pgBackRest, or similar HA/backup tools
- Infrastructure automation using Terraform, Python, or Ansible
- Familiarity with cloud-native database infrastructure (storage, compute, security)
- Logical replication tools like GoldenGate or pglogical
- Unix/Linux command-line proficiency
- Scripting for test harnesses or database utilities
- Prior DBA or Unix sysadmin experience
- Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, VMWare, or OpenShift
- Understanding of hyper-converged infrastructure and cloud virtualization
