Responsibilities:
As Chief Estimator, you will be expected to:
- Oversee and manage the entire estimating process for all projects from conception to closeout.
- Prepare detailed and comprehensive cost estimates, budgets, and work timetables.
- Interpret and review system drawings to identify any potential cost issues and to provide the most cost-effective solutions.
- Interface with clients, vendors, and various project stakeholders on an ongoing basis to ensure the project estimates are accurate and comprehensive.
- Analyze and evaluate bidding risks and strategies; present estimate and related information to project teams and clients as needed.
- Lead the training and development of the estimating team to ensure continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with the project management team to follow up on bids and budgets to close the business.
- Stay updated with the latest estimating technology and industry best practices.
The ideal candidate for the Permanent Chief Estimator position will possess the following:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in estimating with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in construction management and a strong understanding of the engineering industry.
- Exceptional skills in project management and team leadership.
- Proficient in using estimating software and other related computer software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively present information to clients and project teams.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to handle complex pricing negotiations with vendors and suppliers.
