The Payroll Operations & Workday Support Analyst is responsible for supporting payroll operations through Workday system execution, payroll reporting and data extracts, compliance and control support, and operational issue resolution. This role partners closely with Accounting, HR, Legal, Tax, Technology, and external vendors to ensure payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, and effective day-to-day operations.
The position is hands-on and execution focused, supporting recurring payroll cycles, audits, year-end activities, and ad hoc operational needs critical to business continuity.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in review and validation of payroll related Workday design changes, releases, and defect remediation.
Provide operational input on payroll and time configuration impacts and sequencing of changes.
Serve as a payroll point of contact in problem solve discussions with HR, Technology, and external partners.
Prepare officer compensation summaries and other payroll data required for corporate tax filings and financial reporting.
Support legal, tax, and compliance initiatives by generating employee and payroll data (e.g., worker classification, work and tax location).
Maintain documentation, inventories, or trackers related to payroll reports, testing status, and data delivery.
Assist with responses to payroll related compliance inquiries, regulatory reporting questions, and risk management reviews.
Provide clear explanations of payroll and time processing logic in Workday to internal stakeholders when issues or escalations arise.
Partner with Payroll and Accounting leadership to identify control gaps, operational risks, and remediation actions.
Support bi-weekly payroll cycles, off cycle processing as needed, and year-end payroll execution activities.
Assist with resolution of time reporting issues related to holidays, work schedules, shifts, and manager approvals.
Ensure payroll processing adheres to established payroll calendars, documented procedures, and internal control requirements.
Communicate clearly and professionally in multi-stakeholder settings regarding payroll timing, data requirements, issues, and resolutions.
Contribute to payroll process improvement discussions, operational readiness activities, and knowledge transfer efforts.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple operational priorities.
- Experience supporting payroll operations within a large, regulated organization.
- Exposure to payroll compliance, audit, or regulatory reporting activities.
- Familiarity with payroll tax concepts and multi-state payroll considerations.
- Experience working with external payroll vendors and consulting partners.
