Job T le: Azure SQL Database Implementation Consultant
Location: Remote / On-site (Candidates must be local to Vermont)
Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (Estimated Duration: 3 Months)
Project: Database Implementation Services for Energy Data Management
Key Responsibilities:
Phase 1: Requirements Gathering
Collaborate with PSD and ADS teams to refine business and technical requirements.
Document data types, sources, volumes, and reporting needs.
Define performance expectations and success criteria.
Phase 2: Database Schema Design
Design an optimized, normalized relational schema with indexing and relational integrity.
Present schema for stakeholder review and approval.
Phase 3: Database Implementation
Set up Azure SQL environment including resource groups and configurations.
Deploy approved schema and migrate existing data ensuring integrity.
Implement role-based access control (RBAC) and encryption protocols.
Phase 4: Testing and Validation
Conduct performance testing under expected load conditions.
Validate security controls and maintenance plans.
Phase 5: Documentation and Training
Deliver comprehensive documentation including schema and security configurations.
Train PSD personnel on database usage and Power BI integration.
Phase 6: Deployment and Support
Deploy database to production Azure environment.
Provide post-implementation support and issue resolution for 90 days.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience with Azure SQL Database architecture and implementation.
Strong background in ETL development using Python within Azure Data Factory.
Hands-on experience with Azure Blob Storage for data management.
Proficiency in Power BI integration and dashboard development.
Knowledge of data security, RBAC, and compliance standards.
Experience in relational database design, indexing, and performance tuning.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with API integrations for external data sources.
Experience with data lifecycle management and automated data movement.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Deliverables:
Approved database schema and ETL design.
Fully implemented Azure SQL database.
Functional Power BI integration.
Documentation and training materials.
Knowledge transfer for post-implementation support.
