Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile accounting and finance professional to support the Corporate Controller across technical accounting, reinsurance accounting, accounting policy, internal controls documentation, and tax compliance management. The role requires the ability to work across multiple accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical accounting research and application in compliance with US GAAP
- Support month-end close and financial reporting processes
- Prepare and support financial statements and related disclosures
- Develop, maintain, and update accounting policies and procedures
- Document and monitor internal controls; identify gaps and drive improvements
- Oversee insurance and reinsurance accounting activities, including reserves
- Coordinate with actuarial teams on reserving activities
- Manage carrier receivables and payables with fronting carriers
- Ensure accurate recording of reinsurance transactions (premiums, claims, commissions)
- Execute and record insurance trust transactions
- Coordinate with external tax compliance providers
- Support external audits and provide required documentation
- Assist with new program implementations and process improvements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA strongly preferred
- 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience
- Insurance, warranty, or reinsurance accounting experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, especially ASC 944
- Big 4 or national accounting firm experience preferred
- Advanced Excel skills; SQL exposure preferred
- Experience with GL systems (Great Plains, MS Dynamics 365 preferred)
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
