Application Systems Programmer III

Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) is a state agency of Florida. Its headquarters are in Tallahassee, the Sunshine State s Capital City. DFS is seeking candidates to join its Office of Information Technology Team to serve as an Application Systems Programmer III.

This role involves the full lifecycle of application development, from design and development to testing and implementation, for new and existing systems. You'll also be responsible for advanced systems analysis, collaborating with stakeholders, ensuring compliance, maintaining documentation, and resolving production and security issues.

Responsibilities:

• Designs, develops, tests, and implements new application systems and enhancements.
• Assists in supporting application development and production environments, including code builds and deployment issue resolution.
• Designs non-functional prototypes of software and websites.
• Performs analysis and resolves application performance problems.
• Designs and develops technical specifications, providing solutions for enhancements and maintenance.
• Maintains, enhances, and/or develops applications following division processes.
• Conducts advanced systems analysis to define requirements, prepare specifications, and develop program logic.
• Collaborates with stakeholders and teams to ensure system solutions meet requirements.
• Estimates and prioritizes application changes, ensuring they are documented and accepted.
• Gathers metrics, troubleshoots issues, and monitors website navigation and functionality.
• Communicates regularly with team members, management, and business areas on assignment and project status.
• Conducts code reviews, ensuring compliance with standards, security policies, and best practices.
• Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation (security, infrastructure, versions, procedures, etc.).
• Evaluates emerging technologies and recommends system improvements or modernization.
• Participates in application security assessments and implements corrective measures.
• Serves as a contact for secured access to internal system applications for users.
• Provides technical leadership and guidance to lower-level programmers and analyst staff.
• Performs other related duties as required.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Five (5) or more years of software development experience.
• Strong JAVA fundamentals.
• Experience with Web API, and Relational Databases.
