Job Description

Responsible for a broad range of communication initiatives for the Science Mission Directorate (SMD) at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC.
Research, strategize, integrate, and execute communication strategies, plans, and message management processes.
Develop and implement communication plans for utilization across a variety of platforms.
Write and edit communication products.
Coordinate and integrate communication approaches and products across multiple communication disciplines and platforms.
Handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight timelines and changing priorities/relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks.
Works under general supervision; typically reports to a team lead or supervisor.
Generate routine and/or ad-hoc reports for OCOMM management/OCOMM customers.
Directly interfacing with OCOMM management and/or OCOMM customers, as needed

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, writing, or other appropriate area of specialization from an accredited college or university
Proficient in oral and written communications, including writing and editing.
Advanced problem-solving skills
Must be able to write to a range of audiences and creatively explain complex technical ideas in an approachable, compelling way.
Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work in a dynamic environment.
Familiarity with AP style is a plus.
Must be a U.S. citizen
