Job Summary:

They are seeking an experienced MS SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and optimize mission-critical databases for federal health agencies, ensuring system reliability, scalability, and security.
Responsibilities:
• Administer, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases in standalone and clustered architectures on Windows, both on-premise and in cloud environments.
• Configure and maintain failover clusters, backup/recovery strategies, and database replication to ensure 24/7 availability.
• Conduct T-SQL query tuning, index optimization, and system performance monitoring for high-volume health data systems.
• Manage and enhance SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Integration Services (SSIS), and Analysis Services (SSAS) to support analytics, reporting, and ETL processes for federal health programs.
• Implement database security measures in compliance with HIPAA, FISMA, and other federal health IT regulations.
• Automate and monitor database jobs to maintain operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Partner with development, operations, and federal health stakeholders to ensure database solutions align with agency missions and data governance standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Minimum 5 years of SQL Server database administration experience.
• Proven expertise in SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 in both standalone and clustered environments.
• Strong T-SQL skills, with a focus on performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Experience with SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS for reporting, integration, and analytics.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server backup/recovery and failover cluster configuration.
• Experience working with federal health agencies or within regulated healthcare IT environments.
Preferred:
• Experience with SQL Server on Windows and MySQL on Ubuntu.
• Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (AWS, Azure, or OCI) for federal workloads.
• Prior work supporting agencies such as NIH, CDC, CMS, FDA, or HHS.
