Job Summary:

General Dynamics Mission Systems is a leading provider of high technology solutions and services for defense and scientific missions. They are seeking a Data Scientist to work on machine learning initiatives, develop data-driven solutions, and collaborate with various teams to enhance data analytics capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, integrate, and test within U.S. Army machine learning initiatives and programs (e.g., cArmy, Project Maven, Vantage Data Analytics Program) and cloud computing platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure).

• Implement processes, experiments, and prototyping solutions for various data sets in AI and ML, including data mining, analysis, modeling, predicting, and presenting.

• Create machine learning and AI tools to discover and leverage information in large data sets, delivering insights through algorithms, dashboards, and queries.

• Use advanced statistical methods, predictive modeling, and scripting to develop solutions for large data sets and extract meaningful insights.

• Apply engineering principles and techniques of computer science and statistics to develop data-driven, evidence-based solutions and interpret findings.

• Collaborate across departments and with project leaders to define data requirements and identify questions/issues for data analysis and experiments.

• Independently determine approaches to solutions and contribute to the completion of projects or small programs; may provide work direction to other employees as technical lead.

• Travel may be required; security clearance required.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related Science or Mathematics field

• 2 years of job-related experience or a Master's degree

• Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance at time of hire

• U.S. citizenship is required

• Skillful judgment in selecting methods and techniques for analytical solutions

• Experience in advanced machine learning algorithms and skills (e.g., statistics, regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks)

• Familiarity with data architectures for distributed data

• Strong programming, scripting, and querying skills

• Familiarity with statistical computer languages to manipulate data and draw insights

• Implement new statistical or mathematical methodologies as needed

• Familiarity with data mining, statistical analysis, pattern recognition, or predictive modeling

• Understand various data structures and common methods in data transformation

• Clearly present new concepts through oral, visual, and written communications
