UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an entry-level Data Engineer I to join Data Platform and Analytics – Data Engineering. This role involves implementing data pipelines, optimizing data structures, and collaborating closely with customers and team members to deliver high-quality technical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Duties are related to data design, data accuracy, data replication, data transformation, metadata, and repository creation for the data hub, which contain data repositories for all the information systems managed by UFIT.
- Troubleshoot and performance tune existing data pipelines and integrations. Make recommendations toward the development of new code or reuse/enhancement of existing code. Review processes that audit data synchronization for data corrections.
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and support of the data hub and corresponding data marts, including the development of near real-time and batched data marts, star schema design, integrations, operational reporting data marts, debugging and modifying program code, managing deadlines, and ensuring quality control practices are followed.
Qualification
Required
- Associate's degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.
- Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience, but does not negate the minimum degree requirements.
Preferred
- Understanding of data pipeline and data integration methodologies
- Understanding of database functionality
- Understanding of object-based storage
- Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
- Knowledge of methods and ability to grasp new concepts, acquire new ways of seeing things, and revise ways of thinking and behaving, with the understanding that this is an ongoing business necessity.
