Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete payroll process for the organization, ensuring timely and accurate payment to all employees.
- Manage collections and remittances, maintaining accurate records and ensuring all transactions are processed efficiently.
- Handle union dues collection, working closely with union representatives to ensure accurate and timely payments.
- Collaborate with the HR department to verify employee data, including hours worked, deductions, and paid time off.
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve any payroll issues that arise.
- Prepare and submit reports on payroll activities to upper management.
- Stay updated on current regulations and laws related to payroll procedures to ensure compliance.
- Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the payroll department to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll or a related field.
- Proven experience with collections, remittance, and union dues collection.
- Proficiency in payroll software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong knowledge of payroll procedures and best practices.
- Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal rules and laws regarding payroll and employment.
