Customer Service & Scale House Associate (Scrap Metal Yard)
Schedule: Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–4:30 PM • Saturday 7:00 AM–12:00 PM
Position Overview
The Bilingual Customer Service & Scale House Associate plays a key role in daily yard operations by processing incoming scrap, entering transaction details, handling payments, supporting dispatch, and providing administrative and customer service support. This position works in a fast‐paced scrap yard and office environment and requires strong communication skills in both English and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Transactions — Verify customer IDs, enter transaction data, and guide customers safely through the yard.
- Payment Processing — Handle cash/check payments and balance the cash drawer daily.
- Scrap Material Knowledge — Identify basic ferrous and non‐ferrous materials and understand general scrap pricing.
- Administrative Support — Answer multi‐line phones, route calls, take messages, and prepare packing slips.
- Dispatcher Assistance — Complete inbound scrap tickets, communicate driver schedules, prepare Bills of Lading, and maintain accurate records.
Requirements
- Bilingual English/Spanish — Required for customer interaction and transaction processing.
- Customer Service Skills — Friendly, professional, and able to work with diverse customers.
- Computer & Data Entry — Comfortable entering transactions and using basic office software.
- Fast‐Paced Environment — Able to work in both yard and office settings.
- Reliable Transportation — Required for consistent attendance.
- Physical Requirements — Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs; PPE required in processing areas.
