Competition Dance Teacher/Choreographer

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Competition Dance Teacher/Choreographer to inspire young dancers and guide them through the exciting journey of competitive dance. Responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive dance curricula tailored to various skill levels and age groups, emphasizing technique, performance skills, and choreography.
• Develop original choreography for solo, duet, and group routines suitable for competitions across multiple dance styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop.
• Teach dance classes with enthusiasm and clarity, ensuring students understand movement fundamentals, musicality, and stage presence.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a respectful, inclusive, and motivating environment that promotes learning and artistic expression.
• Prepare students for competitions by coaching their routines, enhancing their performance quality, and providing constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with students on costume design ideas or stage presentation elements when applicable.
• Maintain detailed lesson plans, progress records, and performance evaluations to track student development.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in choreography and dance instruction across multiple styles such as ballet, jazz, Lyrical, contemporary, tap, and hip hop
• Strong background in curriculum development tailored to competitive dance programs.
• Experience working with children and youth in educational or arts settings; familiarity with early childhood education or preschool environments is a plus.
• Knowledge of classroom management techniques that foster discipline while encouraging creativity.
• Ability to teach visual & performing arts effectively; experience with theater or musical performance is advantageous.
• Skills in teaching instrumental performance or musical instruments are beneficial but not required.
• Familiarity with youth programs teaching experience and special education needs is preferred.
• Competence in lesson planning, behavior management, childhood development principles, and working with diverse student populations.
• Additional skills such as sewing for costume creation or photography for promotional purposes are considered assets.
