Our client an Acton/Boxborough based construction firm is seeking a Construction Superintendent to join their team on a direct hire basis. The Superintendent is a self-motivated, reliable, and organized professional responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, along with the ability to effectively manage subcontractors and field operations. Most of the work will be in MA between Worcester and Boston.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety
- Administer and enforce job site safety programs and security procedures
- Coordinate routine safety inspections and address all non-compliance issues
- Collect and review subcontractor toolbox talks weekly
- Report, document, and assist in investigating all incidents and accidents
- Review subcontractor safety plans prior to mobilization
- Ensure all personnel complete site-specific safety orientation
- Lead pre-construction safety and logistics meetings
- Maintain compliance with all safety plans
Scheduling
- Execute the project schedule from groundbreaking through closeout
- Assist in developing and maintaining the master construction schedule
- Prepare and distribute weekly three-week look-ahead schedules
- Monitor progress and implement recovery plans when needed
- Present and communicate schedule updates to stakeholders
Operations
- Direct and coordinate subcontractors to ensure safe and productive work
- Manage site logistics, deliveries, and traffic flow
- Prepare and lead trade coordination and preparatory meetings
- Supervise field staff and provide daily direction
- Conduct and document weekly subcontractor meetings
- Oversee MEP, structural, and architectural coordination
- Maintain site readiness for weather and environmental conditions
- Ensure accurate daily field reporting and document control
- Build and maintain relationships with owners, inspectors, and local officials
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site
Quality Control
- Enforce quality standards and ensure compliance with contract documents
- Coordinate with third-party inspectors and surveyors
- Manage punch list development and closeout process
- Address and resolve all deficiencies and non-conformance reports
- Review submittals and verify materials meet project specifications
Cost Control
- Manage and monitor third-party labor resources
- Track labor costs and forecast future needs with project management
- Review subcontract scopes and identify gaps
- Obtain approval for out-of-scope work before authorization
- Support budget tracking, general conditions, and project allowances
Professional Requirements:
- Maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times
- Obtain and maintain required certifications/licenses, including:
- Construction Supervisor License (preferred)
- OSHA 30
- First Aid & CPR
- Participate in ongoing training and development
- Proficiency in Procore preferred
