Stable Hand

We are for a full-time & part-time stable hand. We are a small upscale boutique boarding facility of 11 stalls with runs and 5 turnouts. The ideal candidate will have a passion for equine care and the ability and experience to handle working solo. As a Stable Hand, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the well-being of our equines and ensuring that the stable is clean and organized. It is imperative this candidate have equine experience; time management, critical thinking, confidence and organizational skills; a strong work ethic and a desire to learn. The candidate must be physically fit, able to meet the physical demands of this job. Experience operating tractors and dragging arenas preferred but not required. Able to work outdoors and in cold winter & hot summer temps.

Duties

• Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, turnout, grooming, and exercising as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of stables by mucking out indoor stalls, cleaning water buckets, and ensuring bedding is fresh.
• Operate tractor safely for tasks such as moving hay, manure and dragging arenas.
• Assist with property maintenance.
• Monitor animal health and report any concerns to supervisors promptly.
• Blanketing
• Perform basic reading and math calculations for feeding grain, weighing hay and inventory management.
• Use stable apps for barn communication and care of horses.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in equine care is required, preferably as a stable hand and experience mucking indoor stalls.
• Ability to lift heavy loads regularly and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the day.
• Familiarity with property & landscape maintenance for light repairs, including fencing, raking, ie. is preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions and adapt to changing tasks as needed.
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and trainability are essential for success in this role.
• Good time management skills.
• Reliable transportation an ABSOLUTE MUST.
• English fluent.
