Working in close partnership with leadership and program teams, this role ensures every funding opportunity is aligned to JMG’s strategic priorities and positioned to accelerate growth, innovation, and influence. As the organization continues to expand, this position will help shape and lead a high-performing development function, building the capacity to sustain and elevate JMG’s impact for years to come.

 

Essential Functions

  • Contribute to a collaborative, team-driven approach across all aspects of the work, leading the advancement of foundation, grant and corporate support.
  •  Provide strong, consistent support to communications efforts, including the opportunity to develop new and creative approaches to stewardship and impact.
  • Identify, pursue, and manage funding opportunities, including prospect research, outreach, proposal development, and submission.
  • Support revenue forecasting and planning.
  • Write and manage grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and other funder-facing materials.
  • Coordinate internal inputs to ensure proposals and reports are accurate, aligned, and submitted on time.
  • Work with internal teams to align funding opportunities with program priorities, outcomes, and data.
  • Contribute to clear and consistent messaging that reflects JMG’s impact and model.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and documentation of all funding activity in Salesforce and related systems.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, templates, and workflows.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in development, fundraising, grant writing, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience writing successful grant proposals and managing funder relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience working with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and translate programmatic work into funding opportunities.
  • Commitment to JMG’s mission and ability to communicate its impact effectively.

Working Conditions

This position is based out of JMG’s Central Office in Augusta, Maine, with some remote flexibility. Statewide travel is required. Occasional meetings or events may occur outside of traditional work hours.

Benefits and Salary Information 

  • Salary: $75,000 per year, with additional performance-based bonuses.
  • Paid Time Off: This position starts with 15 days of vacation time, 15 days of sick time, plus an additional week of vacation at Christmas and an additional week of vacation the week of the Fourth of July holiday
