About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Research Associate to support in vivo research activities within a life sciences research environment. This role will focus on experimental planning, execution, and analysis for research programs in obesity and cardiometabolic therapeutic areas. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on rodent research experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused setting.
Responsibilities
• Design, plan, and conduct in vivo research studies with limited supervision
• Perform hands-on rodent handling, dosing, blood collection, and related in vivo experimental activities
• Develop, optimize, and implement research protocols and assays to support scientific projects
• Execute experiments, analyze data, and provide scientific recommendations based on findings
• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and ensure timely recording of experimental results
• Support study reports, protocol development, and review processes
• Manage experimental timelines and communicate progress effectively with team members
• Serve as a technical resource for in vivo platforms and methodologies
• Collaborate with cross-functional scientific teams to support research objectives
• Share knowledge, improve laboratory practices, and contribute to a collaborative research environment
• Present experimental findings to scientific teams and stakeholders
• Provide support for occasional weekend experimental activities as part of team responsibilities
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline with 5 years of post-degree experience, or equivalent relevant experience
• Strong experience with in vivo rodent handling and dosing techniques, including subcutaneous, oral, intraperitoneal, and intravenous administration
• Experience with in-life blood collection and necropsy procedures
• Proven ability to independently organize and execute moderately complex experiments
• Experience collecting, analyzing, and documenting experimental data
• Strong laboratory notebook practices and attention to data accuracy
• Ability to develop and manage research protocols effectively
• Proficiency with computer systems and willingness to learn new software tools
• Experience with metabolic cage systems such as BIODAQ and Sable Cage systems is highly preferred
• Rodent surgical experience is a plus
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Compensation (MA Pay Transparency)
- Estimated hourly range: $50–$60/hr (W-2)
- Final rate within this range will be based on skills, experience, and interview results.
