Duties
- Assist with asphalt maintenance tasks, including patching, sealing, and surface repairs to extend the lifespan of existing pavements
- Support new asphalt installation projects from site preparation through paving and finishing
- Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, and dump trucks to move materials efficiently
- Conduct utility locating to ensure safe excavation and paving operations around underground utilities
- Help prepare job sites by clearing debris, setting up barriers, and ensuring safety protocols are followed
- Collaborate with team members on paving activities, including spreading asphalt and smoothing surfaces for a uniform finish
- Maintain equipment by performing routine inspections and reporting any issues promptly
Experience
- Prior experience in construction or asphalt work is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is highly valued
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, or similar machinery is a plus
- Knowledge of construction site safety procedures and utility locating techniques is advantageous
- Hands-on experience with paving processes or asphalt maintenance projects will be beneficial
- Ability to operate Caterpillar equipment or similar heavy machinery is desirable
- Strong work ethic with physical stamina for manual labor tasks in outdoor environments
