What this job involves: The Data Center Break/Fix Technician III is a senior technical role responsible for leading advanced break/fix support and driving operational excellence in a high-availability data center environment. As the final escalation point for hardware failures and complex infrastructure incidents, you'll diagnose and repair critical systems, mentor junior staff, support vendor engagements, and contribute to process improvements while ensuring alignment with change and incident management protocols.

- Diagnose and repair failed servers, storage nodes, and compute blades while adhering to strict SOPs and SLAs in mission-critical environments
- Replace or repair faulty components including CPUs, DIMMs, motherboards, fans, NVMe/SSD storage, and NICs in large-scale rackmount configurations
- Execute comprehensive test procedures to validate repairs and confirm successful reintegration into production workloads
- Develop and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Method of Procedures (MOPs) for complex repair scenarios
- Collaborate with provisioning, network, capacity, and software engineering teams to coordinate repairs without impacting critical workloads
- Utilize vendor-provided and proprietary diagnostic tools for troubleshooting and system recovery including BMCs like iDRAC/iLO and CLI tools
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior technicians while serving as final escalation point for complex hardware issues
- High school diploma or equivalent with minimum 4 years of hands-on data center hardware repair experience
- Advanced expertise in server hardware troubleshooting including enterprise-grade servers, storage systems, and networking components
- Proven experience with component-level repairs including CPUs, memory modules, motherboards, and storage devices
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools including BMC interfaces (iDRAC, iLO), CLI tools, and vendor-specific troubleshooting software
- Strong understanding of data center operations, SLAs, and change management protocols in high-availability environments
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex technical issues and serve as escalation point for junior staff
- Experience writing technical documentation including SOPs and MOPs for hardware repair procedures
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related technical field
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Server , A , or vendor-specific hardware certifications (Dell, HPE, etc.)
- Experience mentoring or training junior technical staff in data center operations
- Knowledge of ITIL framework and incident management best practices
- Familiarity with cross-functional collaboration in enterprise IT environments
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and storage technologies
- Previous experience in 24/7 operational environments with rotating shift schedules
