What This Job Involves –
This position is responsible for focusing on installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment on all systems. At the direction of supervisor, assists with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, monitoring and performance of all equipment including, but not limited to: electrical, refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, hot water systems, base building systems and emergency generators.
Your day to day:
This position is responsible for focusing on installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment on all systems. At the direction of supervisor, assists with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, monitoring and performance of all equipment including, but not limited to: electrical, refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, hot water systems, base building systems and emergency generators.
Your day to day:
- Install, repair, troubleshoot and maintain electrical controls, single and three phase motors (single & two speed), bus plugs, interior/exterior lighting, battery chargers, fans, compressors, pumps, switching, motor controls, transformers, substation equipment, HVAC equipment, PLCs, and distribution systems ranging from 120v to 480v.
- Performs preventive maintenance on all base building and critical system equipment which includes but not limited to: generators, exhaust fans, air conditioning equipment, boilers, water heaters, kitchen equipment, refrigeration, motors, dock doors, dock plates/levelers, dock heaters
- Assist other mechanics and electricians with repairs and maintenance of plumbing/piping/tubing, interior/exterior painting, line striping (paint sprayer), welding, snaking drains, repair of dock doors, repair of dock plates/levelers, building and equipment.
- Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required.
- Assist with the installation and repair plumbing/piping/tubing; wire single and three phase motors (single & two speed); run conduit; pull wiring to machinery, motors, operating parts, etc.;
- Install and rebuild pumps and motors; install and rebuild air compressors; heat exchangers; replace bearings in all types of motors; replace seals on pumps; install and repair piping, valves, filters, hot water systems and associated controls; assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building and equipment.
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching and motor controls
- Monitor operation, repair, and maintain refrigeration, water cooling and air conditioning equipment; boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water equipment; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; recording readings as necessary to assure proper operation of equipment; responsible for reporting any problems/malfunctions
- Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintains a clean and safe workplace.
- Journeyman Electrician - Electrical License Ideal
- Must be able to read electrical blueprints, schematics and diagrams
- High School diploma or GED
- Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration and HVAC
- Current CFC or EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification preferred
- Must be flexible and willing to work varying shifts from time to time
- Experience beyond construction style electrical work is a must, this could include troubleshooting of VFDs, Building automation devices like damper actuators, valve actuators and sensors
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel
