Job Summary
Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility electrical and mechanical systems on 2nd shift. Perform preventative maintenance on electrical, refrigeration, HVAC, emergency backup systems, and hot water systems while ensuring safe facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical & Mechanical Systems
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching, motor controls, and wire single/three-phase motors
- Run conduit, pull wiring to machinery, and troubleshoot electrical systems to determine cause of malfunctions
- Install and rebuild pumps, motors, air compressors, and replace bearings and seals
- Monitor, repair, and maintain refrigeration, water cooling, air conditioning, boilers, and HVAC equipment
- Install and repair plumbing/piping/tubing, valves, filters, hot water systems, and associated controls
- Perform preventative maintenance on all building equipment and record readings for proper operation
- Assist mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance activities
- Comply with safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials and maintain clean workplace
Education & Certification
- High school diploma or GED with 2 years trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC
- Michigan State Electrical license required
- Valid driver's license required
- Experience with electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of refrigeration, HVAC, and mechanical systems operations
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel
- Ability to analyze system operations and determine cause of problems/malfunctions
- Proficient in electrical controls, motor wiring, conduit installation, and reading electrical schematics
- Understanding of refrigeration systems, heat exchangers, pumps, motors, and piping systems
- Knowledge of boilers, HVAC equipment, valves, and hot water systems
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities with strong safety protocol adherence
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with maintenance team
- Flexibility to work varying shifts as needed
Advanced Certifications & Experience
- Master electrician license, EPA Universal CFC certification, and building automation certifications
- Experience with commercial/industrial facility maintenance and PLC systems
- Knowledge of emergency backup power systems and energy management programs
- Familiarity with CMMS systems for work order management
