What this job involves: JLL is seeking a skilled Industrial Plumbing Technician to support critical facility infrastructure at our semiconductor R&D client site in Tempe, AZ. This role focuses on the installation and maintenance of industrial piping systems that are essential to facility operations. You'll apply precision metal and plastic joining techniques—particularly brazing and soldering—while working on mission-critical systems that carry specialized water, gases, and chemicals. What your day-to-day will look like:
Work Shift: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Upon successful completion of training, employees will transition to a rotating schedule. Overtime is available
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Perform high-quality brazing and soldering on copper and brass piping to ensure leak-proof seals in industrial applications, maintaining the highest standards of system integrity.
- Execute solvent welding and gluing techniques to assemble PVC and CPVC plastic piping systems according to specifications and safety requirements.
- Measure, cut, thread, and assemble pipe systems following technical sketches, work orders, and supervisor instructions to support facility infrastructure needs.
- Complete diverse mechanical work orders including repairing standard drains, soldering copper pipe for general facility needs, and supporting R&D tool hook-ups.
- Monitor and log system usage data from water and gas meters into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track performance trends and support preventive maintenance.
- Maintain and inspect life-safety equipment, including eyewash stations, ensuring compliance with ANSI/OSHA standards and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional trades teams to support evolving facility improvements and infrastructure projects in both standard facility areas and controlled cleanroom environments.
- 1–3 years of documented experience in industrial or commercial plumbing or pipefitting environments.
- Demonstrated strong proficiency in brazing and soldering techniques with the ability to produce high-quality, leak-proof joints on metal piping.
- Technical aptitude to navigate large-scale facility environments and operate heavy-duty hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to work in diverse environments including controlled cleanroom spaces requiring PPE (bunny suits) and adherence to strict contamination protocols.
- Strong attention to detail with commitment to precision work where accuracy is paramount to system integrity and facility safety.
- Availability to provide on-call support for critical facility systems as needed.
- Prior exposure to High Purity (HP) piping systems in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, laboratory, or similar controlled environments.
- Vocational training or trade certification in industrial plumbing, pipefitting, or related mechanical trades.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel for documentation and communication.
- Experience using digital work order management systems or Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Familiarity with industrial facility safety protocols, including OSHA regulations and life-safety equipment standards.
