The Safety Specialist partners closely with Facilities Operations, Engineering, Quality, EHSS, and vendor teams to uphold JLL and client safety standards and drive a strong safety culture across the site.

This role provides hands‑on support in safety training, inspections, incident response, regulatory adherence, and workplace hazard prevention. The Safety Specialist partners closely with Facilities Operations, Engineering, Quality, EHSS, and vendor teams to uphold JLL and client safety standards and drive a strong safety culture across the site.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Safety Program Execution
- Support implementation of EHS programs including hazard assessments, job safety analysis, work permitting, PPE requirements, chemical safety, and contractor safety.
- Assist with execution of OSHA-required programs including LOTO, confined space, hot work, respiratory protection, and electrical safety.
- Support safety communication including alerts, toolbox talks, and site safety initiatives.
- Conduct routine facility safety inspections across labs, mechanical spaces, maintenance areas, and general facility areas.
- Identify hazards or non‑conformances and assist with corrective/preventive action planning.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, local regulations, JLL EHS requirements, and site‑specific policies.
- Support audit readiness and maintain inspection documentation.
- Deliver safety training for JLL staff, contractors, and vendors; maintain training and qualification records.
- Support onboarding safety orientations and competency development.
- Help update and maintain safety SOPs, work instructions, and program documentation.
- Assist with response to safety events, injuries, near misses, and chemical or environmental incidents.
- Support root‑cause analysis (RCA) and development of corrective and preventive actions.
- Track and report incident data, near misses, and EHS KPIs.
- Support contractor safety programs including verification of training, permits, and JSA requirements.
- Conduct field observations to ensure vendors follow approved safety protocols and LOTO practices.
- Escalate safety issues to leadership when necessary.
- Participate in ergonomic reviews, safety improvement initiatives, and hazard mitigation projects.
- Assist Facilities leadership with safety planning for shutdowns, outages, and high‑risk maintenance activities.
- Support safety-related aspects of day‑to‑day facility operations, readiness checks, and emergency response drills.
- 2 years of experience in EHS, industrial safety, maintenance safety, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and core EHS program components.
- Experience supporting safety inspections, incident investigations, or hazard assessments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to navigate the facility, climb ladders, wear required PPE, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Experience working in GMP, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated environments.
- Safety certifications (OSHA 30, CHST, ASP, CSP, or equivalent).
- Understanding of key safety programs such as LOTO, Permit‑to‑Work, confined space, and chemical safety.
- Experience supporting contractor safety programs.
