As a Chief Engineer, your role is to oversee and lead a team of engineers responsible for planning, maintaining, repairing facilities equipment and services and implementing technical solutions to support the smooth running of the facility. This is an International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), Stationary Engineers, Local 39, position. Your primary responsibilities may include:

- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to the engineering team.
- Set clear objectives, define roles and responsibilities, and ensure the team is aligned with organizational goals.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as project managers and stakeholders, to understand project requirements and support and deliver solutions efficiently.
- Plan and manage engineering projects, including resource allocation, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Monitor the progress of projects, identify and resolve any issues or bottlenecks, and ensure timely delivery.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in engineering.
- Provide technical guidance and assist the team in designing robust and scalable solutions.
- Conduct code reviews, offer technical feedback, and ensure adherence to safety regulations, codes, standards, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements in the engineering department.
- Implement and enforce engineering best practices, quality standards, and methodologies.

What your day-to-day looks like:
- Equipment Operations & Maintenance - Monitor and maintain all mechanical and electrical systems including HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, pumps, and piping; perform preventive maintenance tasks and oversee repair schedules while reviewing operational logs to ensure proper equipment function
- Inventory & Procurement Management - Ensure adequate inventory of tools and supplies through purchase order preparation, vendor sourcing, and regular inventory assessments to maintain building operations
- Contractor Oversight - Supervise and coordinate all contractor activities within the building, whether representing the building management or tenant operations, ensuring work quality and compliance
- Procedure Development & Documentation - Develop, review, and continuously improve Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) while maintaining all infrastructure documentation, building drawings, and regulatory compliance records
- Safety & Regulatory Compliance - Identify and remediate safety hazards, implement safety training programs, ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and alert management to building discrepancies
- Team Leadership & CFWA Management - Supervise engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training, and development while ensuring the Critical Facility Work Authorization process is understood and followed by all staff, tenants, and contractors
- Staff Training & Development - Provide comprehensive training on tool usage, maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and troubleshooting while recommending external courses and maintaining professional standards across the operations team
- 7 years facility related work experience, including building engineering, customer service, leadership.
- Managerial experience (overseeing team of building engineers).
- Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes.
- Understands aspects of construction planning and execution.
- Exposure to HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation.
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
- Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
- Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service.
- Certification as a Universal Technician for CFC’s (or within 90 days of employment).
- Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent.
Salary : $185,100 - $194,168
