Metrology Technician III

JJA Technical Services is seeking an experienced Metrology Technician III to support pharmaceutical and biotechnology operations in regulated GMP environments. This role is ideal for a highly skilled Metrology professional who works independently, maintains high attention to detail, and takes pride in supporting critical manufacturing and life sciences operations.

The Metrology Technician III is responsible for the on-time execution of calibration activities to ensure proper measurement accuracy while adhering to applicable GxP regulations, FDA, USP, and ISPE guidelines and practices. Responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled calibrations on process and laboratory equipment using prescribed standard operating procedures (SOPs). The Metrology Technician III is proficient in the calibration of temperature, pressure, weight, speed, gas-analyzing, conductivity, pH, and environmental monitoring instruments in a GxP environment. This role requires a self-starter who works unsupervised, maintains a high level of professionalism and accountability, and consistently delivers quality work in fast-paced technical environments.

Responsibilities
  • Perform calibration and adjustment of equipment to specified tolerances using approved SOPs and manufacturer manuals
  • Calibrate instrumentation including RTDs, pressure gauges, conductivity and pH meters, environmental monitoring systems, differential pressure transmitters, incubators, refrigerators, freezers, centrifuges, and related equipment
  • Support calibration activities on process equipment including bioreactors, mixers, autoclaves, and associated instrumentation
  • Support utility systems including WFI skids, RO/DI systems, chill water systems, boilers, and related instrumentation
  • Utilize calibration standards including RTDs, dry blocks, oil baths, digital multimeters, Coriolis flow meters, standard solutions, and pneumatic/hydraulic pressure and vacuum calibrators
  • Adjust and align instruments using equipment manuals and manufacturer procedures
  • Perform instrumentation repairs and troubleshooting activities as required
  • Specify and request parts/materials and communicate with manufacturers and vendors regarding instrumentation support
  • Maintain secondary and working calibration standards while ensuring work areas and equipment remain clean and orderly
  • Maintain detailed calibration records and ensure documentation complies with quality and GxP requirements
  • Interact effectively with peers, customers, and leadership to achieve operational goals
  • Participate in required training and continuously develop technical knowledge and skills
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement related to quality, safety, efficiency, and reliability
  • Perform work safely and in compliance with site safety requirements
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 4–8 years of Metrology experience with at least 1 year in a pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated environment
  • Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) preferred
  • Military PMEL or TMDE experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical equipment, facilities, standards, and processes
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking abilities
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize a diverse workload
  • Experience working within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality documentation
