Job Function: Legal & Compliance Job Sub Function: Health Care Compliance Job Category: People Leader All Job Posting Locations: Shanghai, China Job Description: DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Director, HCCO China, located in Shanghai, China. The Director, HCCO China serves as the Healthcare Compliance Officer for China, providing end‑to‑end strategic and operational compliance leadership for DePuy Synthes’ Orthopedics business, including Suzhou. This role partners closely with China country leadership, Legal, business and functional stakeholders, and regional and global Compliance teams to ensure ethical business conduct, effective risk management, and adherence to applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and company policies. This is a highly visible leadership role with significant country‑level impact, playing a critical role in safeguarding the organization’s reputation while enabling compliant, sustainable growth in one of DePuy Synthes’ most complex and strategically important markets. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary Healthcare Compliance Officer for China, Commercial and Supply Chain. Lead the development and execution of China healthcare compliance strategies aligned with global and APAC regional priorities. Identify, assess, and manage compliance risks related to commercial, promotional, professional education, government interactions, and other business and operational activities. Provide proactive guidance and strategic advice to senior business leaders on healthcare compliance requirements and ethical decision‑making. Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to embed compliance controls into business processes, go‑to‑market models, and operational activities. Oversee compliance programs, including training, monitoring, risk assessments, and issue management activities across China. Partner with Legal and other functions to support investigations, audits, and regulatory or government authority interactions. Monitor regulatory developments, enforcement trends, and industry practices in China to anticipate and mitigate emerging compliance risks. Prepare and present compliance risk assessments, insights, and recommendations to country, regional, and senior leadership. Foster a strong culture of integrity, accountability, and speak‑up across the China organization. Qualifications Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Compliance, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Preferred: Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Compliance, Legal, Risk, or Ethics‑related). Experience and Skills Required: 10–12 years of progressive experience in healthcare compliance, legal, risk management, audit, or related fields. Strong knowledge of China healthcare compliance laws, regulations, enforcement practices, and industry codes. Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading teams or managing complex, country‑level compliance programs. Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive compliant decision‑making in highly regulated, fast‑changing environments. Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and effective decision‑making and problem‑solving capabilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex compliance topics clearly and credibly. Preferred: Experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or broader life sciences industries. Prior experience supporting China compliance programs within a multinational or global organization. Familiarity with compliance investigations, monitoring, remediation, and regulatory inspections. Experience operating in highly matrixed, multicultural organizations. Strong change management and influencing capabilities. Other: Language: Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese required. Travel: Up to 20–30%, primarily within China with some regional travel. Certifications: Compliance, legal, or ethics certifications preferred but not required.
