We are seeking an energetic & personable Host/buss (Host busser) who also takes phone-orders, in an upscale-casual/ almost fine-dining restaurant, called Jhoomar Indian Cuisine, newly opened just 2 years ago (in January of 2024), 3 nights a week, Monday Friday and Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 10: 30p.m. or until it slows. On Mondays we close at 10:00. You may get cut at 9:00 or 9:30 if it's really really slow. You'll be taking care of our guests the moment they arrive & you will also be assisting our servers in the maintenance of their table, and removing dishes from the table that are no longer needed.

Serving the best Indian food (or so we've heard many times), for the beautiful and diverse people of Columbus, Ga., a town that is known for southern comfort food, will require a smiling face at the door enthusiastic menu knowledge & understanding, in case someone wants to place a togo order, at the counter.

And on the topic with food - we love for our employees to know and taste the dishes throughout the first two weeks & training. We also welcome our employees to rice & soup or lentils. Also, employees get a 50% discount for them plus two people or two extra entrees for dine-in and pick up, up to $150 (per month). Not on alcohol.

It is to be noted that you will actually be working with the duo Danish & Tina, who created the restaurant. They are always around to help the team out where it is needed. Greet guests with a friendly and positive attitude, making them feel immediately welcome. Your enthusiasm, excellent communication skills, and hospitality expertise will set the tone for an exceptional guest experience. Manage reservations and seating arrangements efficiently using POS system. Take phone orders, and answer phone using professionalism, providing accurate information, pricing of menu.

Knowing the menu & how to describe the flavor of the dishes to someone who has never tried Indian food before. (Don't worry, we will help in this area) Coordinate with the service team & keep track of where (in the serving sequence) each table is at, so that you can effectively manage people waiting to be seated. Lifting up to 40 lb Serving water to newly seated guests. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and waiting area. Buss tables, carrying away dishes that are no longer needed by the guest/dirty dishes to dishwashing station, without buss tub while guests are seated, and is tub can be used after guest have left the table, but dishes must be bussed constantly during the dining process as much humanly possible. Running food to the table while carrying a food tray occasionally, but not that often Disperse dirty dishes to the correct place at the dishwasher station. Saying thank you to other team members & treating other team members with kindness. Completing side work at the start & end of each shift: including rolling silverware, shining glasses & putting them away.

Using a water pitcher to give guests their water shortly after they've been seated. Filling water pitchers & Refilling Water Machine at the beginning of the shift. Clean windows facing Manchester Expy once a week. Check plants on the bartop to see if they need to be watered (every 10 days or so) Helping people understand each menu (we have 4: regular, the picture menu, the wine menu, the gluten-free menu) Knowing dietary lifestyle & allergen knowledg i.e. knowing if a dish/food is gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian or keto-friendly. Don't worry if you don't. We will provide that information, but it must be memorized. Allergens always need to be asked ahead of time while order is being taken. Qualifications

1 year host/hostess experience in a food service or restaurant setting 1 year bussing experience in restaurant. Ability to lift 40lbs Fastpace walking for the entire 3 to 5 hour shift. Strong customer service & retention skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor Excellent communication skills, outgoing and clear pronunciation so people can hear you. Typing orders into a computer system quickly. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment Fashion sense - dressing professional but upscale-casual and relaxed as well, with good hygiene (trimmed beard or clean pulled-back hair, if long). Tattoos and jewelry are fine. You need to wear all black men on slip shoes, all black dress pants and all black button up long sleeve shirt. We will provide and navy blue button up shirt 30 days after hire.
