We're hiring on behalf of a well-established, mission-driven organisation based in McLean, Virginia and this is a genuinely great opportunity for an experienced payroll professional ready to make an impact.
The Role
As a Payroll Senior, you'll be a key player within a tight-knit, collaborative team of five, supporting accurate and on-time bi-weekly payroll processing for a workforce of approximately 8,000 employees.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing end-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing (input, reconciliation, proofing)
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax withholding and filing requirements
- Handling withholding orders, garnishments, and tax settlements
- Conducting ongoing payroll audits and supporting HRIS system testing
- Documenting and maintaining up-to-date processes and procedures
What They're Looking For
- 5–7 years of high-volume, multi-state payroll experience
- Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) — tech-savvy candidates preferred
- Workday experience strongly preferred (other enterprise systems considered)
- CPP certification a bonus
- Someone who values stability, collaboration, and doing things the right way

- $93,000 – $139,000 (sweet spot $120k–$125k) OT eligibility
- 5 days on-site in McLean, VA (Metro commute expenses or shuttle covered)
