JF Fitness is a growing franchisee in the Crunch Fitness system committed to operational excellence and continuous improvement. We are seeking an enthusiastic Payroll Specialist to join the Human Resources team.
Position Summary
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for independently administering accurate and timely payroll processing for a large, multi-state, multi-unit organization utilizing Paycom. This role serves as a subject matter expert for payroll operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while providing exceptional customer service to employees and business leaders.
The Payroll Specialist performs complex payroll audits, resolves escalated payroll issues, supports system optimization, and partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, Operations, and club leadership to continuously improve payroll processes and the employee experience.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Independently process high-volume, multi-state payrolls within Paycom.
- Review and validate payroll for accuracy prior to transmission.
- Process new hires, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, bonuses, commissions, retroactive pay, PTO payouts, final pay, and off-cycle payrolls.
- Calculate and process manual checks, payroll reversals, adjustments, and corrections.
- Ensure payroll deadlines are consistently met.
- Audit employee timecards for completeness and accuracy.
- Review missed punches, overtime, meal/rest period compliance, and scheduling exceptions.
- Partner with club leadership to resolve timekeeping discrepancies.
- Monitor compliance with company attendance and scheduling policies.
- Support Paycom Time & Attendance functionality and troubleshooting.
Education
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Equivalent payroll experience may be substituted.
Experience
- 3–5 years of payroll experience.
- Experience processing payroll in Paycom strongly preferred.
- Experience processing payroll for 1,000 employees.
- Multi-state payroll processing experience required.
- Multi-location or multi-unit payroll experience required.
- Experience supporting hourly, salaried, commissioned, and bonus compensation structures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of federal and multi-state payroll regulations
- Knowledge of FLSA and wage and hour laws
- Payroll tax knowledge
- Garnishment administration
- Payroll auditing and reconciliation
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reporting)
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- High degree of confidentiality and professionalism
Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
