What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Prep and Kitchen Assistant (10-15 hrs/week) position at Jewish Federation of the Berkshires?
Overview:
The Food Prep person assists the Food Service Director with various duties at the kitchen located in Pittsfield, which prepares 20-40 meals 2-3 days a week for our older adult meals and Meals on Wheels program.
Responsibilities: Assist in meal prep, portion control and meal packaging, supply receiving, organizing inventory, sanitation and dishwashing using a commercial dishwasher, and interacting with clients in a friendly and professional manner
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three years of food prep experience, preferably in a commercial kitchen.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Knowledge of food safety practices
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Responsible and dependable self-starter
- Ability to stand and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to work independently to follow a recipe and prepare a simple meal on your own during the occasional absence of the Food Service Director.
Approximate Hours: 8:30 am-12:30 pm, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. During the summer, 8:30 am -12:30 pm, Monday and Thursdays.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
