Position Summary
The Peer Support Specialist provides recovery-oriented support to adults living with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) within Jewish Family Service of Dallas, in partnership with a Clubhouse setting. This role uses lived experience to build meaningful relationships, support member goals, and promote engagement in programming and community life.
What You'll Do
- Provide one-on-one and group peer support
- Facilitate groups and assist with daily programming
- Encourage member engagement, participation, and connection
- Promote recovery, wellness, and self-advocacy
- Support members in identifying goals and developing individualized plans
- Assist with accessing community resources and supports
- Complete timely and accurate documentation in accordance with program standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
- Participate in the RISE Program and other program initiatives
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while using lived experience intentionally
- Work effectively with diverse populations in a culturally responsive and inclusive manner
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- MHPS required; RSPS is a plus
- Lived experience with mental health recovery required; substance use recovery experience a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete documentation
