The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey is seeking a compassionate and professional Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to support adults with disabilities (ages 21 and up) who work, participate in recreational activities and social events, and/or reside within our programs.
 
The RBT will provide direct support to clients in vocational, residential, and community-based settings. Under the guidance of a BCBA, the RBT will implement individualized strategies that promote independence, social integration, skill development, and overall quality of life. This role requires flexibility, patience, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to empowering adults with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives.

Responsibilities:

Working as part of a team, this person will 

  • Support Skill Development: Implement instructional and behavioral strategies to build daily living, vocational, communication, and social skills in individualized and group settings.
  • Promote Positive Behaviors: Carry out behavior support plans as developed by the supervising BCBA, using proactive and person-centered approaches to encourage independence and dignity.
  • Monitor and Track Progress: Collect and record accurate data during sessions and activities to monitor progress, guide treatment adjustments, and ensure accountability.
  • Foster Inclusion: Support clients in community settings, workplaces, recreational activities, and social events to promote meaningful participation and belonging.
  • Engage Families and Guardians: Maintain professional, supportive communication with families/guardians, providing updates as directed by the BCBA.
  • Collaborate with the Team: Work closely with BCBAs, residential/vocational staff, and interdisciplinary professionals to promote client success.
  • Ensure Health and Safety: Support clients in maintaining safe environments and assist with personal care as needed, always promoting respect and dignity.
  • Driver’s license valid in the state of New Jersey and a clean driving record
  • Submit to a criminal background check and be determined to be not disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to hire.  
  • Agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities  
  • Shall submit to drug testing and receive a clear drug screen prior to employment per Stephen Komninos Law.  
  • Shall submit to drug testing conducted randomly and for cause.  
  • Shall complete an application to have their name checked against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI).   
  • Must be vaccinated for Covid -19 or meet criteria under both DHS/CDC guidelines.    
  • Must cooperate with the licensee and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation.  
  • Demonstrate an understanding of inclusion, compassion and problem-solving with individuals with disabilities and their families. 
  • Employee must successfully complete and demonstrate proficiency in all areas of required training. 

Required Certifications: RBT Certification 

Required Education & Experience: Minimum HS education with 1 year experience

  • Compassion, patience, and enthusiasm for working with adults with disabilities.
  • Reliability, professionalism, and openness to ongoing supervision and feedback.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and adherence to the RBT Code of Ethics.
  • Ability to support clients in diverse environments (residential, vocational, recreational, community).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients, families, and colleagues.
  • Supervision and Development: Participate in required BCBA supervision and professional development opportunities.
  • Dependability: Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality to ensure reliable client support.
  • Documentation: Complete session notes, data collection, and progress reports accurately and promptly. 
  • Collaboration: Partner effectively with team members to provide comprehensive, person-centered support.
