Jewelry Television: Show Planner

Position Summary:

The Show Planner at Jewelry Television drives sales by choosing inventory for each broadcast show, ensuring the right combination to maximize gross margin dollars. Show Planners partner with the Merchandising group and Broadcast Sales in preparing the shows and quickly responding to live environment changes. This position is onsite in Knoxville, Tennessee.

 Responsibilities:

• Reviewing and reacting to daily sales;
• Writing shows for 12-16 broadcast hours per week with the goal of attaining gross margin and new customer plans;
• Holding responsibility for the rotation of key items and reorders for assigned hours across a day, visit, or event;
• Work with Sales Producers, Hosts and other Planners /Senior Planners on strategic use of sales tools;
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, particularly in influencing and managing peer relationships, as well as, relationships with merchants, guests, and programming partners;
• Demonstrates an ability to interact with senior level management;
• Demonstrates strong ability to manage details;
• Ability to meet deadlines with a sense of urgency;
• Demonstrates strong communication skills, including verbal, non-verbal, and written;
• Ability to speak with confidence and conviction in a concise manner;
• Demonstrates strong decision-making skills with an ability to read and react to the business;
• Exhibits an understanding of basic negotiating skills;
• Has an intermediate/expert knowledge of Excel and Outlook
• Exhibits the ability to learn show writing techniques using planning tools, such as Show Manager, that will create exciting and productive shows for the customer;
• Is able to accurately forecast product and show performance;
• Exhibits proficient analytical skills and understands basic retail math;
• Is able to create all necessary recaps of the business for appropriate analysis;
• Exhibits ability to learn/understand Open To Buy process and assortment plans followed by the Merchant Team.

Requirements:

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred;
• Must have at least 3 – 5 years experience in a retail environment
• Proficient with retail math and understanding of merchandise analysis;
• Must work well in a team environment as well as independently with little supervision;
• Must be detail oriented;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Must be able to work within deadlines;
• Must possess a sense of urgency;
