What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Inspector position at Jet Edge?
Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Inspector is well versed in a wide range of metrology techniques and tools. They ensure raw materials, purchased parts, and custom manufactured parts meet the documented engineering requirements. They also aid in failure analysis and reverse engineering efforts. The inspector's experience and exposure to a wide variety of parts allows them to aid in identifying potential E.C.O.s and cost reductions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect material certifications to ensure they meet requirements.
- Confirm material hardness and surface finish.
- Use established best practices to determine inspection sample size based on lot size.
- Use hand metrology tools to perform inspection of complex parts with tight tolerances and complex GD&T.
- Use CMM to perform automated inspection parts and record part data.
- Program CMM.
- Identify materials that do not meet requirements and file corresponding Discrepant Material Reports (DMRs).
- Disposition discrepant materials based on functional requirements and established history.
- Coordinate with Engineer to determine disposition of discrepant materials and notify production and purchasing of the non-conformance.
- File secondary processing document for materials that require secondary processing and move materials to proper location.
- Prepare parts to be inspected, (clean dirty parts, ensure no uneven surfaces) to ensure accurate results.
- Perform minor reworks (i.e., deburring) of defective parts.
- Interact with vendors and purchasing to communicate required corrective actions on non-conformances and suggested changes to inspection plans at vendor site.
- Collaborate with Engineer to author inspection plans, including providing suggestions per AQL Chart data.
- Collaborate with Engineer to perform post failure analysis of part and reverse engineer competitor’s parts.
- Maintain and organize inspection lab.
- Supports other work areas as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Two-year technical degree, metrology training and certification, or 2 years industrial metrology experience.
- Can read and interpret engineering drawings and standards.
- Has working knowledge of GD&T.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills.
- Can operate a CMM: Fixture parts on the CMM bed, Swap CMM probes, Load and run existing CMM programs, Digitally log and store CMM results.
- Can maintain and program a CMM: Qualify the CMM, Write CMM programs, Build up probe assemblies
- Is proficient in the use of: Rulers & Tape Measures, Feeler Gauges, Calipers, Micrometers including outside, bore, pressure, threading, etc., Pin Gauges, Dial Indicator, Optical Comparator, Thread Gauges including ring, plug, go, and no-go, Profilometer, Hardness Tester, Microscope
- Competency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Speak, read, and write fluent English.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Facility/office is clean and well lit.
- Full time position and must have the ability to work flexible hours and overtime when needed.
- The employee will be standing most of the working day.
- Must be able to move and manipulate parts up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to move and manipulate parts greater than 75 lbs. with the assistance of other employees or mechanical means.
- May be exposed to harmful particles, aerosols, and/or liquids in the process of performing cleaning or reworks - Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided.

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour

Experience:
- quality control inspection: 1 year (Preferred)
