Job Summary

The Aviation NDT Technician delivers critical non-destructive testing services that ensure aircraft safety and regulatory compliance across our diverse fleet. This specialized role combines advanced technical expertise with precision execution to identify structural integrity issues through sophisticated testing methods. You will play an essential part in maintaining the highest safety standards while supporting efficient aircraft operations and contributing to our continued growth in the aviation industry.

Core Schedule

  • Days: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Some on call or evening/weekend hours may be required
  • Travel may be required for field inspections and AOG events

Compensation

  • Starting hourly rate of $36.00 - $55.00 / hour depending on experience and certifications
  • Overtime pay for all hours over 40 hours per week

Day In The Life

As an Aviation NDT Technician at Jet Access, you'll serve as a critical guardian of aircraft safety through advanced non-destructive testing techniques. Here's what your role encompasses:

Advanced Testing & Inspection Operations

  • Perform comprehensive NDT inspections using eddy current, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and fluorescent penetrant methods on aircraft and components per FAA regulations
  • Execute precise testing procedures following approved maintenance manuals and regulatory requirements
  • Operate and maintain sophisticated NDT equipment including ultrasonic flaw detectors, eddy current instruments, and magnetic particle testing apparatus
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of test results and determine compliance with OEM specifications and regulatory limits
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule inspections that minimize aircraft downtime while ensuring thorough coverage

Technical Documentation & Quality Assurance

  • Prepare detailed, accurate inspection reports documenting findings, methods used, and compliance determinations
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all NDT activities in accordance with FAA regulations and company procedures
  • Ensure proper calibration and documentation of all NDT equipment per manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, service bulletins, and maintenance manuals to determine appropriate testing procedures
  • Coordinate with quality assurance personnel to validate inspection results and support return-to-service documentation

Strategic Support & Collaboration

  • Provide expert guidance on NDT findings to maintenance personnel and support decision-making for aircraft repairs
  • Participate in ongoing training programs to maintain certifications and stay current with evolving NDT technologies
  • Support field operations by traveling to remote locations for critical inspections or AOG situations
  • Mentor junior technicians and contribute to the development of NDT procedures and best practices
  • Complete special projects and initiatives as needed, embracing opportunities to contribute to Jet Access's continued growth and success

Your expertise ensures the structural integrity of our aircraft while upholding the highest standards of safety and technical excellence that define our operations.

What Will Make You Successful

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Level II or higher certification in at least two NDT methods (eddy current, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, or fluorescent penetrant) in accordance with NAS 410 or equivalent standards
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience performing NDT in an aviation maintenance environment
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, OEM manuals, wiring diagrams, and repair documentation
  • Proficiency with NDT equipment operation, calibration, and maintenance procedures
  • Strong understanding of FAA regulations (Parts 43, 91, 135) and aviation maintenance requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to prepare detailed technical reports
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required for field inspections
  • Physical ability to work in confined spaces and various positions required for aircraft inspection
  • Must pass required background checks and pre-employment screening
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards and regulatory compliance

Additional Qualities That Will Make You Successful

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate preferred
  • Level III NDT certification in one or more methods
  • Experience with popular business aircraft models (Citation, King Air, Gulfstream, etc.) and their specific inspection requirements
  • Background in composite materials testing and advanced avionics troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance tracking systems and electronic documentation
  • Experience training and mentoring junior technicians in NDT procedures
  • Knowledge of international aviation standards and inspection requirements
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with experience developing creative solutions for complex inspection challenges
  • Professional demeanor with ability to represent Jet Access at client facilities and remote locations
  • Continuous improvement mindset with interest in advancing NDT technologies and procedures
