This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys both working with people and hands-on animal care and. The ideal candidate is comfortable providing friendly, professional service to clients at the front desk and over the phone while also caring for hospitalized and boarded pets.

What You'll Do
Client Service & Reception Responsibilities
- Greet clients and their pets warmly and professionally.
- Answer telephone calls and emails and respond to routine client questions.
- Schedule and confirm appointments, surgeries, and other services.
- Check clients and patients in and out as needed.
- Create, scan, and organize medical records and other documents in the electronic medical record system.
- Maintain client confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Assist with general administrative duties, perform light cleaning, and help maintain a welcoming, organized reception area.
Animal Care & Kennel Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, attentive care to boarded and hospitalized dogs and cats.
- Feed, water, walk, and monitor pets according to veterinary and client instructions.
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, litter boxes, dishes, bedding, and other equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kennel and hospital environment.
- Observe patients for changes in behavior, appetite, elimination, or overall condition and promptly report concerns to the veterinarian or manager.
- Safely handle and restrain animals as appropriate while using low-stress handling techniques.
- Help ensure all animal-care tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
Team & General Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with veterinarians, management, coworkers, and clients.
- Work independently while also contributing positively as part of a team.
- Prioritize and balance tasks in a busy veterinary hospital environment.
- Be reliable, punctual, responsible, and willing to take initiative.
- Work closely with veterinarians and other team members to provide an exceptional client and patient experience.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in veterinary medicine, animal care, kennel care, veterinary reception, or a similar setting required.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Comfortable safely handling and lifting animals of various sizes.
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior and veterinary/animal care practices.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and comfortable working with both animals and people.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays, as these are among our busiest times.
- Must be able to reliably commute to Fairfax, VA 22030.
- This is an in-person, part-time position.
