Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Oil and Gas Accountant / Field Administrator to join our team in Tulsa. This dual-focused role is designed for a professional who understands both the numbers and the operational realities of the oilfield. You will oversee the day-to-day full-cycle accounting functions—including Revenue Distribution and Joint Interest Billing (JIB)—while acting as a vital administrative liaison for our field activities.
While experience with WolfePak (PakEnergy) software is preferred, we are fully prepared to train the right candidate who demonstrates a strong technical aptitude and a proven ability to master complex enterprise software quickly.Key Responsibilities
Financial & Oil & Gas Accounting
- Revenue & JIB Management: Direct full-cycle Joint Interest Billing (JIB) and revenue distribution to owners, ensuring precise cost allocations and division order compliance.
- General Ledger & Close: Maintain accurate general ledger records. Prepare monthly journal entries, bank reconciliations, and manage the month-end/year-end close processes.
- Purchaser Tracking & Check Stubs: Input check stub data (via CDEX data exchange where applicable) and reconcile payments from crude/gas purchasers.
- Regulatory & Tax Support: Assist with monthly state production and severance tax reporting, 1099 processing, and year-end audit preparation.
Field Administration & Operations Support
- Field Data Management: Review and process field operator data, run tickets, and "pumper tickets" to track fluid and gas volumes accurately.
- AFE Tracking: Set up, track, and reconcile Authorizations for Expenditure (AFEs) against actual operational costs for active drilling or maintenance projects.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage vendor invoice routing, ensure field ticket approvals match AP invoices, and track outstanding balances.
- Liaison Operations: Act as the primary point of contact between corporate management, investors, landmen, and field production teams.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of direct accounting experience within the upstream oil and gas sector (E&P, operator, or oilfield services environment).
- Software Expertise: Proficiency in standard accounting software; direct experience with WolfePak / PakEnergy is a major plus, but a demonstrated ability to learn complex ERP systems quickly is highly valued (training provided).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related business field. (Equivalent industry experience will be strongly considered).
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and financial formatting).
- Industry Knowledge: Solid grasp of COPAS guidelines, GAAP principles as they apply to energy operations, and Oklahoma oil and gas regulatory frameworks.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day oversight.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance package.
- 401(k) and paid time off (PTO).
