Position Summary

Under the supervision of the General Manager, the Quality Control Technician plays a key role in ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for inspecting and receiving incoming parts and materials, performing in-process and final inspections, and coordinating the calibration of certified measuring equipment.


Candidates should have experience operating within an ISO-certified environment, with a strong understanding of quality standards and procedures.


The role also requires:

  • Inspecting welds to ensure structural integrity and compliance with specifications
  • Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication processes
  • Experience working in a job shop manufacturing environment, where adaptability and attention to detail are essential


This is a hands-on position that demands precision, consistency, and a commitment to continuous improvement.



Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interpret detailed blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits
  • Troubleshoot print and bill of materials problems in cooperation with Engineering and production staff.
  • Recommend methods of assembly, welding, and production
  • Perform inspection on first piece, in process, purchased part, finished material, and products, ensuring conformance to specifications
  • Test finished products for paint quality and thickness, welding quality, dimensions, fit, blast profile, and appearance
  • Perform standard inspection tests including air testing welds, and magna-flux testing
  • Route product for re-work
  • Complete all required records and paperwork including, but not limited to, inspection reports, damage reports, return reports, and re-work orders
  • Process purchase damage numbers when incorrect material is received
  • Ensure finished product is packaged and loaded correctly to minimize possible damage during transportation
  • Analyze inspection results and assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standard
  • Communicate with plant supervision noted deviations of tolerances and quality
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability
  • Make recommendations regarding safe working methods
  • Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation regulations


Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience working in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and job shop operations
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Experience inspecting powder coated products
  • Ability to inspect welds and fabricated parts for quality compliance
  • Ability to perform well in a team environment
  • Self-motivator and must be flexible to accommodate needs of your team
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents such as blueprints, routings, work orders, engineering specifications and safety regulations
  • Ability to write routine reports and documentation
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers and other employees of the organization
