Jensen Estate Law, with locations in Bellevue and Seattle, is seeking an Estate Planning Attorney with a strong interest in estate planning and a desire to grow into related areas of practice over time. This position is being posted broadly to allow for the right fit based on experience, availability, and overall qualifications. The role may be structured for an entry-level attorney, a more experienced part-time or contract attorney, or a full-time experienced attorney, depending on the candidate.

Role Overview:

The Estate Planning Attorney will work closely with senior attorneys while also taking ownership of assigned matters and client communication. This role is well suited for someone who is ambitious, practical, detail-oriented, and eager to build real experience in estate planning from the start.


This role is especially well suited for someone who is motivated to take ownership of their work, grow as an attorney, and develop over time into additional related practice areas.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Document Reviews and Signings: Review estate planning documents with clients and guide them through the signing process, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Client Meetings: Meet with clients seeking basic to intermediate estate planning services, gather information, and identify planning goals and next steps.
  • Drafting of Estate Plans: Draft estate planning documents and recommendations with attention to legal accuracy and client goals.
  • Trust Funding: Assist clients with trust funding and related implementation to help ensure assets are properly aligned with the estate plan.
  • Washington Estate Tax & Other Tax Planning: Assist with Washington estate tax, federal estate and gift tax, and related income tax considerations affecting estate and trust planning.
  • Estate Administration and Probate Support: Support trust administrations, probates, and taxable estate matters as needed, while helping keep matters organized and moving forward.
  • Family Business & Entity Formation: Assist with the formation and structuring of family businesses and related entities as part of broader estate planning strategies.
  • Matter Management and Client Communication: Manage assigned responsibilities, timelines, and follow-up items while communicating clearly with clients, advisors, and team members.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to clients and work effectively with team members and advisors.
  • Team-oriented, while also able to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines, timelines, and multiple matters effectively.
  • Resourceful and thoughtful problem solver, with the ability to identify issues, think critically, and pursue sound solutions independently and collaboratively.
  • Holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and is an active member of the Washington State Bar or expecting admission shortly.
  • Legal experience in estate planning is preferred, however qualified applicants may also have a keen interest in estate planning and experience in related practice areas, such as probate and administration, business, real estate, tax, etc.
  • Ability to travel between our Seattle and Bellevue offices.

Additional Requirements: Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas (including H-1B) at this time; background check may be required

 

Benefits:

Compensation will depend on experience, role structure, and overall contributions. Benefits, healthcare benefits, paid vacation, sick leave, and a 401(k) plan, may be available depending on the final position and schedule.
