Job Description:

As a key member of our creative team, you will collaborate closely with the design team to contribute fresh ideas and perspectives to our projects. Responsibilities include assisting in conceptualizing and developing design concepts, creating detailed drawings and specifications, sourcing materials and furnishings, and maintaining clear communication with clients and team members. The ideal candidate should possess a keen eye for design, proficiency in design software, and a passion for staying abreast of industry trends. This role provides an excellent opportunity for professional growth, as the Junior Interior Designer will be exposed to a diverse range of projects and will have the chance to contribute to the realization of cutting-edge and aesthetically pleasing interior spaces.

The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work. Other duties may be involved.

Business Development

- Partipicate in networking with architects, developers, contractors, trades, real estate agents, etc. to create and maintain referral sources

- Participate in company PR and marketing initiatives (social media content, attend events, market, etc.)

Project Management

- Taking projects from start to finish

- Project Binders

- Taking potential clients through the Potential Client Process

- Client set up in all systems

- Assist in Identifying and executing complete job scope

- Work with contractors, architects, vendors, and trades to set a realistic timeline and communicate that timeline consistently to clients and all involved parties

- Prepare accurate and profitable client proposals for approval (profit margins must follow company guidelines)

- Design within the set budget

- Provide an incredible client experience, where clients become raving fans from great communication and customer service

- Ensure project is excellent quality, on time and on budget (both clients and our margins)

Interact with Design Team

- Execute projects in a professional, positive and profitable manner

- Review work of Design Assistant or Intern and provide performance feedback on what excellence looks like

- Provide clear, proactive, direct, and frequent communication and interface with team members

- Maintain design library of samples and resources

Interact with Client, Vendors and Trades

- Establish and maintain positive, professional client, vendor and trade relationships

- Participate in client meetings and presentations in a positive, professional manner

- Provide clear, proactive, direct and consistent communication and interactions with clients, vendors and trades

- Provide weekly communication to clients (Friday email updates) and trades (Weekly email round up of all open items by project) with active projects

- Prepare communication for Lead Designer to inform clients, vendors and trades of changes in a timely manner

- Help to analyze and resolve complex, technical design and installation issues

- Issues are anticipated and addressed before they become problematic. They are addressed immediately with skill and diplomacy. If issues need to be brought to Lead Designer’s attention, they are presented as facts with carefully considered options in a timely manner

- Perform site documentation - photos and detailed measurements of layout, elevations, windows and all existing items being utilized in the design

- Review shop drawings and work with vendors and trades to ensure the desired vision

- Communicate project guidelines and site expectations to vendors and trades

- Oversee deliveries and installations for design vision and quality control

- Oversee meeting minutes are detailed, accurate and shared in update emails

- Respond to all client communication within one business day, if even to say that the message is received and the answer is coming

- Adhere to and maintain the existing client file system in an organized manner

Other

- Issues are anticipated and addressed before they become problematic, with skill and diplomacy. If issues need to be brought to the CEO’s attention, they are presented as facts with carefully considered solutions

- Execute processes and procedures as defined through Conceptual, Detailed, Purchasing and Execution (provide and review detailed processes)

- Perform other job-related duties as assigned

- Be physically able to perform various installation project requirements such as lifting, standing for long periods, using a ladder, installing small artwork, styling and other physical duties

- Have reliable transportation to go to and from job sites, showrooms, meetings, etc.

Qualifications

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Knowledge of budgeting and retail math
  • Proficent with design software such as Sketchup and CAD
  • Ability to negotiate and upsell products effectively
  • Experience in renovation and construction projects
  • Multilingual abilities are a plus
  • Strong organizational and merchandising skills
  • Design degree
