What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agricultural Equipment Operator position at Jeffery Dugie?
Ground preparation is done in the month of February with the planting season typically starting in March. Once planting is completed then continuous watering and irrigation of the crops typically starts in April. This continues throughout the summer and usually the water is removed mid-July and harvesting begins around August 1. After harvest is completed, the fields are then flooded again so that a ratoon crop can be harvested in the fall. Usually the second harvest is completed in early December. Employees will assist with all aspects of growing rice. Employee must have the ability to drive John Deere tractors including GPS systems for field preparation. Operation of CASE IH combines, plows, vertical tillers, and backhoes. General servicing of equipment such as changing oil and filters is required along with basic skills to repair equipment. Employer may, at its sole discretion, provide pay increases based on longevity or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid at their previous season’s rate if that rate exceeds the current published rate.
