Recreation Assistant
Full Time | Tuesday - Saturday, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm

It provides Independent Living and a comprehensive retirement living option for adults over the age of 62 by offering an Active Adult Community, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing Care and Memory Care, all centrally located on one campus.
Jefferson’s Ferry Life Plan Community is seeking an enthusiastic Recreation Assistant to lead group activities and provide 1:1 visits as needed to residents with varied cognitive abilities including dementia and document resident participation.
We are looking for someone who is outgoing, able to maintain upbeat atmosphere during programs and facilitate conversations. Lead thoughtful, engaging programs for our residents including those with varied stages of dementia. Activities will range from stimulating discussions to mindful exercises, fun happy hours, live music, crafts, and more!
In addition, you will:
- Lead and facilitate a variety of intellectually stimulating activities including discussions, crafts, seated exercise, happy hours, live music, games and social events.
- Set up and break down programs for both small and large groups, decorate for holidays and themed events.
- Assist residents in wheelchairs to and from programs. You’ll get your 10,000 steps in with us!
- Prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants, including monitoring dietary, medical and dementia-related needs.

We require:
- Graduated from or currently enrolled in a Therapeutic Recreation or related program (Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Health Science), preferred (current students welcome!)
- The ability to effectively communicate to residents, families, visitors, and staff
OR
- High School diploma, or equivalent, with at least one year of related experience and/or training.
