Jefferson County's Department of Community Development is seeking an experienced, collaborative leader to serve as our next Building Permit & Administrative Services Manager.
No two days in this role are alike. You might start the day improving permitting workflows with your team, then collaborate with County leadership, resolve a complex customer issue, facilitate a department meeting, or develop strategies to strengthen operations.
As a key member of the Department's leadership team, you'll oversee the administrative and operational functions that keep the department running smoothly while leading a talented team supporting building, permitting, fire, and administrative services. You'll supervise staff, manage budgets, coordinate permitting operations, develop policies and procedures, and work with County departments and community partners to deliver exceptional public service.
We're looking for someone who enjoys building strong teams, improving processes, solving complex problems, and fostering a positive, collaborative workplace. If you're an organized leader who can balance big-picture thinking with the day-to-day needs of a busy department, we'd love to hear from you.
You'll Thrive In This Role If You:
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school, and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in business administration or public sector management; or
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, finance, or a closely related field, and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in business administration or public-sector management; or
An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates progressively responsible experience that provides required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Hours & Compensation:
This is a full-time, FLSA exempt position with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm with a one-hour lunch.
Salary grade is MG 18, with full salary range of $7,322.40-$9,005.62 per month, depending on qualifications.
Benefits:
Jefferson County offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 11 paid state-recognized holidays, three (3) floating holidays, paid time off (PTO), bereavement leave, and access to the Employee Assistance Program, with retirement provided through Washington State DRS.
