Senior Saw Operator

• Operate a variety of manual and automated saws throughout the cutting process.
• Program saws using CNC software.
• Assist Saw Lead with sample production.
• Use gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure machines are functioning properly.
• Identify sources of miscuts or overcuts, drive investigations to root cause and corrective actions, escalate machine issues, and make minor repairs and adjustments to the machinery.
• Perform calculations to optimize foam yields and cutting from foam byproduct.
• Capture information regarding defective or damaged buns, assist with determining if the damage/defect was caused internally or from the supplier, and record the bun size, grade, and lot number for credit, where applicable.
• Lend sense of urgency and significance to the job, striving to meet and exceed standards set forth in the operation.
• Embody a safe work culture by always wearing appropriate PPE and following all processes.
• Perform daily PMs on equipment.
• Train new saw operators, cross-train existing staff, and retrain saw operators as needed.

• 3 years of blocking, horizontal, vertical, or CNC saw machine operating experience.
• CNC programming; preferably utilizing WINCAP software.
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Experience mentoring and training other operators and associates.
• Ability to physically move products, materials, or equipment between work areas, either manually or with the use of a cart, pallet jack, or forklift.
• Strong communication skills, including effectively providing instructions to teammates, and working with sales team on samples.

Education:

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Trade school certification and/or technical training in CNC programming desired.

As the Senior Saw Operator, you will operate multiple saws within the Fabrication department. Your major focus will be on operating blocking, horizontal, vertical, and CNC saws. You will program saws using CNC software, and assist with completing samples. This role also conducts training and cross-training of saw operators, regularly communicating with the Saw Production Line Leader to maximize productivity.
