Our client is a membrane and water treatment technology innovator and manufacturer with the mission of transforming the economics and sustainability of treating and reusing water. The company was founded to develop and commercialize patented fouling reduction technologies for industrial and municipal applications. These technologies, produced in its Bellingham headquarters, will increase membrane separations productivity, enhance efficiency, and reduce cleaning and maintenance.


They’re in need of a Production Engineer to join our rapidly growing tech startup. The right candidate will have 5-25 years of experience as a production engineer working with spiral wound elements and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment in which autonomy is crucial. You will work closely with an experienced production supervisor who will define production vision and requirements, while you lead execution, system development, and implementation.


Responsibilities:

  • Responds to spiral wound membrane element product failure, material nonconformities, and equipment failures with long-term solutions.
  • Leads the creation, revision, and control of documentation for production, establishing new standards and documentation schemes as needed.
  • Supports the development of quality systems by developing and managing QA/QC processes and tools to ensure finished and incoming parts and final product meet the required specifications.
  • Contributes to the development of the maintenance department. Creates maintenance procedures and schedules with input from operators and technicians.
  • Knowledgeable in equipment operation and functionality. Keyholder for changing product recipes from equipment. Trains new operators on equipment functionality.
  • Plans and implements increased production resources to meet growing sales demands.
  • Monitors inventory systems to ensure that materials are of sufficient volume and quality.
  • Specifies and selects materials for spiral wound membrane element products.
  • Review and analyze product performance data to support product improvements.
  • Manages and tracks multiple projects at a given time.
  • Supports efforts to achieve ISO 9001 certification and maintain/improve processes.


Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Preferably manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
  • 5 years’ experience as a manufacturing/production engineer in spiral wound membrane element production.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Highly detail oriented and organized. Experienced working in standardized documentation environments.
  • Takes ownership of completed work and is accountable for outcomes and timelines. Self-aware and willing to ask for assistance when needed.
  • Strong aptitude for innovation, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Comfortable and effective in a fast-paced startup environment. Willing to assist and contribute to areas outside of primary job responsibilities.
  • Basic CAD/design experience. Creates and revises drawings according to engineering standards.
  • Physically capable of standing for an entire 8-hour shift and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing and able to work overtime as needed.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Able to commute to the office or willing to relocate.


Compensation is $80K-100K depending on experience, plus bonus and full benefits.
