Shape the uptime of critical power—one site at a time

At JDC Power Systems, LLC, we're looking for an experienced professional to step into an FSR3-level role supporting customers in the field. Picture your day: you arrive on-site, walk the line of LV/MV switchgear, connect test equipment, diagnose a stubborn fault, and guide a customer through next steps. By afternoon, you’re validating PLC I/O during a startup and documenting your findings so the next shift has everything they need. You close the day ensuring OSHA-aligned safety procedures were followed and the system is back online—faster and safer.

What you'll tackle

  • Perform on-site troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical power systems and equipment: transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, and PLC-based controls.
  • Run diagnostics to pinpoint technical issues, minimize downtime, and restore stable system performance.
  • Support startups and commissioning, confirming systems operate to spec and meet customer requirements.
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact during service visits—answer questions, resolve issues, and keep customers informed.
  • Provide basic operator training on system use and preventative maintenance.
  • Document service activities thoroughly, including test reports and performance feedback.
  • Leverage remote troubleshooting tools where appropriate to speed resolution.
  • Collaborate with fellow technicians to coordinate work and deliver on schedules.
  • Follow company safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and industry standards; maintain relevant safety certifications through training.

Qualifications you bringEducation

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree in electrical engineering or related field preferred.
  • NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or other relevant technical certifications are a plus.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of hands-on field service experience with power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls.
  • Proven capability in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, including transformers and circuit breakers.

Skills & Competencies

  • Diagnose and solve complex problems efficiently.
  • Comfort with field service management software, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Clear, customer-friendly communication skills.
  • Self-directed with strong prioritization in fast-paced environments.

Extra competencies

  • Hands-on experience with low- and medium-voltage systems.
  • Foundational knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, and protective relays.

Travel, location, and logistics

  • Location: Various.
  • Frequent travel with overnight stays to customer sites and JDC locations across the country.
  • Regular daily/weekly travel across the Region to customer sites and internal field service locations.
  • Occasional travel to Hackettstown, NJ to meet with leadership.

Tools and technologies

  • SCADA systems
  • ERP software
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Industry-standard test equipment (e.g., multimeters, breaker test sets)

Other requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.

This is an experienced, FSR3-level field service role.
