As a Garage Door Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient operation of garage door systems, utilizing your technical knowledge and craftsmanship to complete projects with precision and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain a variety of garage door systems, including springs, cables, rollers, tracks, openers, and safety features.
- Use hand tools and power tools to assemble, adjust, and secure components according to manufacturer specifications and building codes.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and installation instructions to ensure accurate setup and troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations during all installation and repair activities.
- Lift heavy components safely while adhering to proper ergonomic practices; assist with door hanging and framing as required.
- Collaborate on remodeling projects involving carpentry, trim carpentry, metal stud framing, or cabinet installation to enhance overall system functionality.
- Utilize blueprint reading skills to plan installations or repairs accurately on construction sites or existing structures.
Requirements
- Proven experience with construction site work, remodeling, carpentry, or related trades involving heavy lifting and manual labor.
- Mechanical knowledge of garage door components as well as general construction experience including framing, drywall, or electrical work.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools (hammers, screwdrivers), power tools (drills, saws), welding equipment, and fabrication tools.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and building codes accurately.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems related to garage door openers or security features; electrical experience preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and working at heights; comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
