About the Role
A rapidly growing and globally integrated managing general agency is seeking a Tax Underwriter to join its U.S. based transactional risk team. This is a unique opportunity for a tax professional with M&A experience to transition into a dynamic underwriting role within the specialized world of tax insurance. This position offers deep exposure to complex deals, high-profile clients, and the opportunity to shape an evolving market.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze tax opinions, M&A documents, and due diligence reports to assess risks and exposures
- Review insurance submissions and conduct tax research to support underwriting decisions
- Report to the Head of Tax on a team of 3
- Draft customized quotes, policies, and binders for tax liability coverage
- Participate in underwriting calls with brokers, law firms, and corporate clients
- Collaborate with global underwriting teams on cross-border and structural tax risks
- Serve as a tax resource to R&W underwriters on M&A transactions
- Build industry relationships with brokers, legal counsel, and private equity sponsors
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 1–5 years in federal M&A tax at a Big 4 accounting firm or major law firm
- JD/LL.M. in Tax or CPA required
- Experience with tax insurance or transactional risk is a strong plus
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable with client interaction
